Tomas Rosicky smiled a knowing smile of satisfaction having just scored his first Arsenal goal of the season. All goals are important, but having netted the second in the Gunners’ 2-0 FA Cup third round win over arch rivals Spurs at the Emirates stadium on Saturday, the Czech Republic midfielder felt an even greater sense of satisfaction. After today’s draw, Arsenal will face League 1 side Coventry City at the Emirates stadium in the FA Cup 4th round.

” I think basically we played very collectively and tactically and were very well disciplined. In these kind of games it’s very important not to make a mistake and we always have the quality to score goals,” said Rosicky whose words will particularly have been heard by Danny Rose after the Spurs’ player was disposed at the half way line for the Gunners’ second goal. Rosicky however warned that Arsenal will get better and are a confident side.

” I think we can still improve a bit, tactical stuff, shape you know. But obviously we won such an important game it means so much to us and the fans so it’s a great win for us.

” If I play this position, to put the opponent under pressure. It paid off to me this time. I went there and took the ball and straight for goal. It’s my first of the season and against our main rival it feels good.”

Asked about Arsenal’s ambitions, Rosicky will no doubt be pleased with an FA Cup winners’ medal, but the ambition remains high for a side currently topping the Premier League.

” It’s very simple, we want to win the league! We are a good side, we’ve showed it in 2013, we want to stay consistent and win the league this year.”

More of the same from Rosicky will help lift the Gunners’ trophy drought and also cement his name in a very promising Arsenal side.
